An established public accounting and tax services firm in Tucson, AZ is seeking an experienced Enrolled Agent to join its tax advisory team. This direct hire opportunity is ideal for a senior tax professional with strong public accounting experience who enjoys preparing complex returns, advising clients, and representing individuals and businesses before the IRS.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare and review individual, partnership, S-Corporation, C-Corporation, trust, and nonprofit tax returns.
- Represent clients before the IRS in audits, appeals, collections, payment arrangements, and other tax resolution matters.
- Provide proactive tax planning and consulting services to individual and business clients.
- Research and interpret federal and state tax laws to support compliance and identify tax-saving opportunities.
- Analyze financial records and advise clients on tax implications, reporting requirements, and planning strategies.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through professional communication, timely follow-up, and trusted advisory support.

Required Qualifications and Skills

- Prepare and review complex tax returns for individuals, businesses, partnerships, trusts, corporations, and nonprofit entities.
- Handle IRS representation and tax resolution matters, including audits, collections, payment arrangements, and appeals.
- Deliver tax planning strategies and advisory guidance to support client financial goals.
- Collaborate with internal team members and firm leadership to provide comprehensive tax and accounting solutions.

- Active Enrolled Agent credential required.
- 10+ years of senior-level tax preparation, tax advisory, and client service experience strongly preferred.
- Strong background in public accounting, tax services, or a professional services firm environment.
- Advanced knowledge of federal and state tax regulations.
- Demonstrated experience with tax planning, tax research, IRS representation, and client advocacy.
- Proficiency with tax preparation software, accounting software, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong analytical, organizational, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a client-focused approach.
- Ability to manage multiple clients, competing priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced tax environment.

Preferred Qualifications

- Accounting, finance, or related educational background.
- Experience serving both individual and business tax clients.
- CPA background or CPA-track experience is a plus but not required.
- Commitment to continuing education and staying current with tax law changes.
